“This past Saturday, the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum hosted an engaging presentation on the Duesenberg J-209 and its original owner, Woogie Harris, a prominent businessman in 1930s Pittsburgh. Known for his lavish parties that often featured surprise celebrity guests, Woogie’s home—“Mystery Manor”—became a cultural hotspot. He also generously rented the upper floors of his residence to the National Negro Opera Company, helping to foster the arts within the community.

As Mystery Manor, located at 7101 Apple Street, undergoes significant restoration, the museum was proud to highlight Woogie Harris’s contributions and the ongoing efforts to preserve this important Black landmark in Pittsburgh.

The event featured guest speakers Jonnett Solomon, Executive Director and a founding member of the National Opera House in Pittsburgh, and Dawn Carroll, an award-winning designer, writer, and producer from Boston. Attendees also received a complimentary copy of *Songs for Mary*, a soundtrack album inspired by the stories of Mary Dawson, renowned musicians, and other visitors to Mystery Manor.

This event, included with museum admission, was a fantastic opportunity to connect with Pittsburgh’s rich history and culture. Thank you to everyone who joined in celebrating this important piece of history!
